The annual report on 2016 has held at the Genetic Resources Institute of ANAS

Genetic Resources Institute (GRE) of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) has held an annual report for 2016. At the joint meeting of the Department on Biology and Medical Sciences of ANAS and Scientific Council of the GRE, a report about scientific and scientific and organisational activity of the Institute during 2016was discussed.

         Director of the Institute, Corresponding member of ANAS Dr. Zeynal Akparov made an address at the meeting. He provided a detailed insight into the scientific and scientific and organisational activity of the Institute in 2016, attained achievements, as well as available problems. 

He emphasized that the Institute on-time and fully implemented all decrees and orders of President of Azerbaijan Republic, decisions and orders of the Cabinet of Ministers, as well as instructions on state programs. During the last year 22 scientific and research works on 14 themes aimed at resolution of 2 problems in 1 direction at the institute were held. 

As a result, a number of important achievements were attained and 181 scientific works were printed by the institute staff members.

Out of them 2 were books, 5 monographs (3 published abroad), 95 articles (31 published abroad) and 79 thesis (35 published abroad). 15 articles were printed in impact factor journals and around 100 references were made to scientific works.

Dr. Z.Akparov highlighted about a number of innovations achieved in the sphere of mutual connection of fundamental science and education. He said that cooperation agreements aimed personnel preparations and joint researches were signed with local and foreign education and research centres.

4 people were admitted to the masters programme at the institute in 2016. 5 researchers (2 doctors of science and 3 master students), who received education abroad in the spheres of medicine and human genetics were attracted to the establishment of “Human genetics” group within the Department of Biotechnology.

The GRI and KEW Royal Botanics Garden (London, the UK) held an international training course.

In addition, 24 various webinars and seminars were organised in Azerbaijani and English languages.

After listening to the report, members of the council Professor Ramiz Aliyev, doctor of science in Biology Haji Shiklinski, Ph.D in Biology Mehraj Abbasov and doctor of philosophy in Biology Hamlet Sadigov made addresses. They hailed  scientific works and attained results during 2016. They also brought forward a number of current problems and proposals on their solutions.

At the end they approved important results of scientific research works and adopted the report.
