Kalantarova Natavan Sabir was born in 1978 in the city of Sheki. She graduated from the bachelor's degree (1999) and graduated with honors from the magistracy (2001) of Baku State University, studied at the graduate school of the Institute of Genetic Resources of ANAS (2004-2007).

Since 2002, N. Kalantarova has worked as a junior researcher, researcher and senior researcher, and since 2019 she has been the head of the Central Database group at the Institute of Genetic Resources of ANAS. At the beginning of 2020 she was appointed scientific secretary of the Institute of Genetic Resources of ANAS. Doctor of Philosophy in Biology (2013).

The polyploid level from which the elimination of excess genetic material in the genome of plants of the polyploid series of mulberry (Morus L.), called the "polyploid reset " was first identified by N. Kalantarova. It was found that exposure to plants of the mulberry polyploid series of water and salt stresses leads to significant changes in the genetic system, in particular, the content of RNA, DNA and the fractional composition of DNA. In the course of the study, the features of changes in lipid peroxidation in plants of the polyploid mulberry row were first revealed.

Thanks to the work of N. Kalantarova, done in a short period of time, the names of taxa and relevant information about 208 plants contained in the Central Database of the National Genebank were adapted to the international nomenclature and an updated version of the database was uploaded to the EURISCO catalog. In this embodiment, 525 samples were included in the on-line system for the first time. In addition, the Institute was registered in the Information System (Easy-SMTA), designed to assist users of the Multilateral Access and Distribution System in accordance with the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture. After registration, by connecting to the GLIS (Global Information System) system via EURISCO, DOI (digital object identifier) was obtained for 8387 samples and the data of characteristic plant bases belonging to the following 10 genera were downloaded: Triticum, Hordeum, Cicer, Lathyrus, Zea, Phaseolus, Secale, Triticosecale, Vicia, Vigna. One of the most important scientific problems of our time is the creation of information systems containing research data and a scientific description of gene pool samples for effective management, reliable protection and efficient use of biodiversity. To solve this problem, the Central Database group improves existing ones and creates new databases on the characterization and evaluation of a number of plants. Collecting in a single space, efficient organization and ensuring the availability of data obtained as a result of studies of plant samples carried out to date, will save time, labor and resources, eliminating the need for re-study.

N. Kalantarova participated in all courses held at ANAS on the inclusion of scientific journals in the Web of Science database, the registration of researchers in scientometric databases and academic social networks, and was appointed the Institute's responsible person on this issue. As a result of its activities, the quality of articles published in the scientific works of the institute has improved and the registration of all scientific workers of the institute in academic institutions has been completed. Since 2018, she has been the Executive Secretary of the Editorial Board of the Proceedings of the Genetic Resources Institute of ANAS.
Since 2019, N. Kalantarova has been engaged in teaching activities at the Institute of Genetic Resources of ANAS and Baku State University. In 2019, N. Kalantarova was accepted for doctoral studies in the Doctoral Training Program and continues research on the topic “Genotyping and identification of specific mutations based on single nucleotide polymorphism of mulberry cultivars and forms of Morus L. of various ploidy”. He has 21 scientific publications.
